Building my team for a comedic web-series

Hi, everyone! I'm a Japanese Actor in L.A.. I'm building my team for a comedic web-series now. Story is about Cultural Misunderstanding and it's 4-5 min per episode. It's going to be a SAG-AFTRA New Media project. I would appreciate your advice and thoughts about how to create a successful web-series. Thank you!

Would this be for 'mostly' an American or Japanese audience?

Yaz Takahashi

Thanks, Allen!

Hi, Mark! It's for mostly an American audience. It should be very funny, unique and original!!

Jean-Pierre Chapoteau

Pack as much comedy you can in the first page cause you have about 30 seconds to grab your audience's attention.

Have an editor who knows comedy. No matter how well the actors delivery are or perfect your shots, the editor can screw it up with the timing.

Make sure all your shots are bright. No one likes a dramatically lit comedy.

If there is a script by a good writer, but your actors ad lib, tell them to not improvise the first or last sentence of their dilaogue. Even with "ums" or "well" or anything like that becuase it kills the punchiness of the jokes.

If single camera, tell them not to cut each other off (unless it's a wide or 2 shot) but on OTS' or cu's, Even if dialogue is rapid fire, tell them to let the other one finish. The editor will get the perfect timing.

Make sure your actors are reacting big to the other person's lines. You want those reaction shots. They're key.

If you want more I can give you more.
