Nightmares, Daymares and Dreams... are they helping you to create screenplays?

This is not the first time I've explored this topic. But I'm fascinated by stories of people who've had dreams or nightmares and then written screenplays based on what they can remember. In this thread I'm posting, this writer had the discipline to get up and 4:00 AM to write down their dream. Here is the Reddit thread for your review: https://www.reddit.com/r/Screenwriting/comments/7v6vog/discussion_ideas_coming_to_you_in_dreams/

Personally, when I'm knee-deep in writing a script, I often dream about the writing process; or elements of the story, particularly when I write late at night. But I can't say I've had a dream or nightmare that's inspired a script.

What about you?

Claude Gagne

No, it's usually in the visual hours. My dreams are mostly all over the place. I have characters dream which seem to get the script moving forward as they do things that the dream revealed. The only thing that helps me create plays is my vivid imagination. I could say something to my wife, I don't know if it's the way I say it, but if it's gory she'll want to barf. Afterwards, she'll say "yuk, shut the fuck up." Lol

I think I read that Stephenie Meyers did that with her book "Twilight." It was based on a dream she'd had and it was so vivid that she wrote it all down and turned it into a novel. I've used lots of events from my dreams or nightmares and added them to my stories but im not sure if I ever based a whole story on just one dream. Though I probably could. Some of them are very vivid. Lol

I attained ability to do day-awake Mental-ninja due to work in the area ▬ this has become—as it currently stands—the capacity to contemplate while in any dream and take it directly through wake-up if useful

Uncle Phil; occasionally.
