Screenwriting : What motivates you as a writer? by R.A. Modro

What motivates you as a writer?

What are some of the life changing experiences that have inspired your writing?

For me, it was helping a friend (Holocaust Survivor) find the place he was hidden in Paris as a child and taking him back to that location when he was in his 80's. This one experience changed me on a very profound level, and has inspired me more than any other experience.

Glen Bradley

Seeing some of the crap being made on Netflix.

Roxanne Paukner

God. Emotions. And money.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

I've been motivated by a variety of reasons. First and foremost, my joy in typing those magic words "FADE TO BLACK".

Dan Guardino

Money and something I can use to make money.

Robert Campopiano

Money and creative expression.

Beth Fox Heisinger

My first script was inspired by life-changing events taken or pulled from my own life. It was challenging but a great experience too. Keeping it fictional really helped with objectivity. ;) Other than that I tend to be interested in stories that have a basis in truth or are inspired by true events. Then fictionalizing. Two I'm currently working on, well, maybe three, are based on true crimes -- they're certainly life-changing. Lol! ;)

What motivates me? Personal interest, I write for myself. And if more becomes of it well then that's just icing on the cake. ;)

Adam Harper

Letting my imagination stretch it's legs and attempting to do something profound with it is what motivates me to keep on writing. I also tend to write from personal experiences that have left an impact on me - alcoholism, playing in a band and embarking on the most slapdash/cursed tour ever, losing a parent, losing friends, gaining friends, burning my dinner - they all leave their mark on my stories somewhere.

Jacob Buterbaugh

I love movies, television, and filmmaking and I want to be a part of it. If I can express myself and create something that will hopefully entertain my audience, well that's a bonus. And if I someday make money doing it, well that's just another bonus.

Tim Hayes

I have no choice. My muse puts me in a wrist lock, slams my head against the keyboard and forces me to write. The merciless SOB cares not about how hard writing is with one hand and a migraine.

Raymond J. Negron

Every other job I had never gave me the type of respect I gave myself. Writing became a norm, a way of me feeling normal at the end of the day that a job couldn't give me. Then, I became an excellent salesman and still love writing. What inspires me is me and the worlds i create from inside out.

G.R. Barnett

Because I love storytelling. I love creating different worlds and characters and entertaining people with the stuff that comes out of my head. It's fun! :)

Glen Bradley

I have a crappy phone. I’m not buried into it, so I’m able to grasp mundane more than others and make it fun. I work with like minded creatives too and we bring out the best in each other. also, you just don’t stop. you can’t win every round.
