I started writing off my own back at about 14. I don't know what made me start except that I was inspired by a dream I had about falling to my death during a rooftop pursuit. (I think I was the pursuer if I remember correctly).
Since then I've dabbled with acting on stage and film, wrote and directed a 30s set noir thriller for the London fringe (The Shadow Formula), made two short films (The Cheat & God, Fat Moo) and worked on various novels, short stores, scripts and screenplays as well as profusely studying the art of storytelling.
Now I want to focus on that more. I'm currently finishing off a long-term project (having recently moved to the very remote Isle of Jura in Scotland I have a lot of time on my hands) and then I want to focus on screenwriting and teleplays. The current feature I'm working on is a kind of Western version of Heart of Darkness/ Apocalypse Now.
I tend to write degrees of fantasy or magic-realism. Sometimes the magic in my scripts isn't obvious but it's still there. I take an often skewed look at the everyday and try to normalise the magical.
I like to write interesting female characters, pepper my dialogue with quirky British humour and often tip-toe over to the dark side, you know, just to see what's going on.
I like working with others even just bouncing around ideas so don't be shy, send me a message and step into my strange world if you like.
Thanks Aray. Love the sound of your work.

A story that I've written, "Mad Cows and Englishmen," sounds like it might fit in with your oeuvre, as it were. Magic is real, and reality is magical, eh?
