Please allow me, dear Maestro, to disagree: 'Mudbound' or 'The Irishman' did not ask to be released straight-to-svod (plus limited theatrical). Financing and distribution are changing and so should the Awards. There is only one distinction to be made, IMHO: if it's a feature, then it does deserve to compete for the Oscars.

There's a lot of movies on Netflix deserves an Oscar to be honest.
A number of films that I've seen that received Oscars didn't deserve them (just my pov).

I used to belong to a film group that met in an upscale chocolate shop, and its owner made chocolate Oscar statuettes. She got a Cease and Desist letter from Academy attorneys.
