We are in the process of getting our Screenplay completed. Since it is a emotional drama of a 4 year-old orphaned girl surviving the Vietnam war, escaping to America: BEFORE shopping it:.... we don't want to waste a Producers time, submitting our Screenplay to him or her when they are wanting to produce comedies, action, etc. etc. Therefore, IS THERE some type of CURRENT directory of Producers, looking for the type of films they are looking to produce in the next year. In this way its an efficient use of everyones time.
Producers look for (FL) scripts that tell a compelling story and that can be economically & profitibly made in the typical 3 - 5 year gestation period. If it's profitable, they'll have enough change to do it again. Genre is a matter of individual taste and the best way to find out is to look at what they've been doing and ask The source books are of limited/minimal use (but are better than nothing). Sounds like you got a 4 hanky drama going on there. Happy hunting.
