Do ratings matter on the blcklist ?

So had my first two evaluations on the website "The Blacklist" and I received positive notes and some critiques so I think my score was a 6 for both people. One said it could be a really good series with some work on script the other said eh has potential but a nope for them. So my question is where the hell do I go from here and should I take there opinions with a grain of salt? or should I embrace it and get back to work. FYI which is what I'm doing but just wondering what the next steps would be.

For what it's worth - I had two "8" ratings and several 7's on the same screenplay on Blacklist; got some downloads, don't know who they were and heard nothing. Same screenplay won a Best Screenplay in a festival this summer; I like Inktip ; at least when your script is downloaded you have an address that you can follow up on after a few weeks.

Thank you I was unsure on what to do next. I will check out inktip!

  1. Yeah, take Black List evaluations with care. They vary too much. I've got a script with evaluations from 8 to 5, passing by all integer numbers. Some readers are good, some are not. Don't use it for development.

    2. If your average score isn't above 6, no one will see it. So, you need to have, at least, one seven or higher to attract some attention. I don't think you'll get much attention with 2 sixes, but it's possible.

    3. If one of the individual scores in your grade (setting, character, dialogue, etc) is a 8 or higher, this activate their mailing list, even if your overall score isn't that great.

    4. If you get one single 8 or higher as an overall grade, you will see some action, meaning people will check your script. But it doesn't mean people will start knocking at your door.

    5. I've received opposite observations in the same version of the same script, from two different readers: one said that my characters were brilliant, and dialogue sucked; the other that my dialogue was masterful, but I had to rethink the characters. So, don't trust your life in their suggestions: see if it makes sense for you. You'll hear a lot of bullshit. If you embrace them all, your script will be damaged.

    6. As far as I can tell, the only evaluations that count are the ones in the last quarter to date. After 3 months, they seem to don't affect your performance in the site.

    7. I also like Inktip, but that's two different animals entirely. The problem with Blacklist is not knowing who is downloading your script. Anyway, I assume that if someone downloaded it and didn't try to contact me, it was a pass. That said, response on Inktip seems to be higher, specially in low-budget features.
