Acting : Tell me about your worst audition! by Stephen Foster

Tell me about your worst audition!

As an actor, I often feel like a moving target at auditions. So hopeful, so happy, so excited to work, but I've had my share of auditions that just went awful. I had a CD scream at me coz she didn't like my costume. I had another actor give me line readings. I once had a director answer the phone during my very difficult monologue.

Tell me about your terrible auditions.

I always say IF I can do it, other's can too.

Joshua A Jackson

I have all film and tv credits. I felt confident to audition for a play in SF. The director gave me two parts to prepare for. One I really liked. The other not so much. He had me read the one I was not crazy about. I gave it my best, he stopped me once, gave feedback. At the end he said, he made some derogatory comment about being just a film actor and excused me.

Ah..

not a big problem don't let it bother you, many stage actors have a slightly different technique. I love theater and was once told in a casting along with many other actors that we all sounded to much like stage actors. There is difference at times but don't let it bother you. Just go see a few stage productions and take theater class. You will enjoy the stage and as far as his comment when you make it big remember how his comment sparked you forward.

Joshua A Jackson that director was a jerk. I've had with all these experts in the biz.

I am only taking some acting lessons now, but I saw a casting director once rip an actress about her choice of clothing. The producer and director cleared the room and when we all came back 10 minutes later, the casting director was gone and the actress was brought back in to give it another go. Happy to say she got the role.

Stephen Foster

I Love stories like that James! I really do.
