I just got back to Stage32 after a hiatus. I just want to say, I really appreciate this video I views. I totally agree with Botto, when he says, "You go to a party, you get dressed up, you look nice, you socialize...why can't people do that online?" You have to just go do it. If you want to direct, pick up a camera. Write? Pick up a pen or hit the keyboard. Act? Perform - even when there's no audience. Don't depend on funding or promises or connections before you've even stepped out the door. That's what I've learned. Anyone else?

I've found it can be challenging to get people involved who share your vision. If you want to do it all by yourself though, fair play.

Lourdes, THIS is some of the BEST ADVICE I give people: Be More PRO-ACTIVE, which is essentially what you and R.B. are saying. And, I agree with that. Robert, remember, that this is a creative field and collaboration is definitely a part of it. But, if you can find people that have similar vision, and can even add to that vision, you can improve upon your idea. GOD BLESS and STAY FRESH! ;)

Being in the UK this really resonated with me! I think a lot of peoples mindset, in the beginning, is that you can only get into this business in Hollywood but living in a digital age that's so far from the truth! I love building online relationships with other creators and getting to know peoples stories. Hope to connect with you all!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlV9BtTxZxM - We here make online commercials to connect with the public & we are about 3-4 hours away from Hollywood... When we go there some people grab us & mention what we've produced... Here is our little bit of fun in a garage... We claimed we were on the "SET" but we were kidding...

I totally agree! Although I am a big believer in connections, but they only go so far. Sometimes they fall through or the work they had for you goes another route. You have to find ways to create work for yourself and stay motivated.

Yeah, that's the thing. You're facing all the harsh realities and the worries...and there's this compulsion to go out there, do your thing, "get somewhere," even when you're starving and no one believes in you. It's gutting. But you still have to put yourself out there, take some calculated risks, do some stupid things...keep moving. And I still think, though, civility and self-respect must carry you, regardless. The "biz" is...the "machine." There are so many disappointments, often outright treachery. It's almost like you have to move on expecting to succeed, knowing you won't, and doing it anyway, to paraphrase Bette Midler.

Lourdes, I don't think it's so much expecting to succeed knowing you won't. From what I have been hearing from people who have been in the business longer than me and have enjoyed more success, is that nobody knows what is around the corner. Success arrives for different people at different times, the only thing you can guarantee, is that if you quit, it won't come even though it may have been around the corner.

Yeah, there's definitely no guarantees...not in any aspect of life. So, I say, keep on moving, regardless, even when success comes.
