Media for this age group in the USA is often loaded with consumerism and sexual (dating issues) and violent content that should be of no concern to young minds. It is truly indoctrination of the worse kind. I hope you find a leader who can help children with relevant and important messages about self-expression, tolerance and inclusiveness, how to identify their personal gifts and skills and how those can be supported in life to allow them to be their best selves, now and in their future. What most adults do not realize is that many children KNOW their own futures and are the best sources of programming ideas. Do they want a show that talks about community gardens? Probably but ask them. Do they want a show that uses characters that promote harmony around them rather than conflict? Probably, but ask them. If the person you hire for this job does not consult youth and children about programming, you have the wrong person.
