Hi, Steve Thompson here. Hi Steve, At what stage of TV series production should you get involved?

One of the factors would be your distribution arrangement. Some distributors will want to promote your series themselves prior to broadcast, like how Netflix made the current season of House of Cards available to tv reviewers in the month preceding release. But if for example you or a sales agent were shopping the series at AFM or another market, you would want to generate some buzz leading up to the market to help build audience anticipation, and establish credibility (and value) with potential buyers.

Mark: I am one of those "hope springs eternal" kind of writers. While I am an attorney/lobbyist to pay the bills, I am also a UCLA trained screenwriters. I have won two UCLA screenwriting awards for feature, placed in finals/semi/quarter finals with recent pilots, I can never quite seem to cross the finish line with a purchased/optioned script. I am wondering if I need to resort to human sacrifices or sacrificing small animals, voodoo, or some other novel way to find that magic?
