Wild Eye Releasing distributor not giving me sales reports

What would be the best way to compel a distributor to give you the sales reports your contract says you are supposed to be getting? I have a feature that is distributed by Wild Eye Releasing for about two years and I haven't received any money, nor have I received any sales reports. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Scot Michael Walker

Yes, several times. They don't reply. There are 3 sales reports they were supposed to deliver, per our contract. Didn't receive them. No response at all. Their social media is active. Their website is active. No response.

Assuming that they are required to do so in your distribution agreement, a letter from legal counsel should get their attention. Along with setting a date to examine their books, which should also be in the distribution agreement.

Thanks for the replies.

I looked into Wild Eye a while back. They offered nothing upfront. So it was a non-starter. Plus many of their titles take you directly to a Vimeo On Demand transactional page. Seemed like a dead end.

They are invisible online; cannot locatecan address or a phone number. Do you have that info? If all you have is a P.O. Box on the contract, you should have a certified demand letter sent. You can also consider politely but firmly calling them out for answers on social... if they are legit it will work and if not, it will not. You also should contact any other filmmakers they distribute with a soft inquiry "do you know how ro get hold of these guys?". If they are scheisters, you are on a list of many in the same boat. In future, it's wise to contact the makers of other titles to learn their experience with your suitor.

Ouch, I know someone who just released a movie with them. I second the plan of a strongly worded letter from a lawyer, referring to the contract.

Does your contract have a Mediation clause? If letters don't work then perhaps this is an option for you.
