Was not sure which lounge to post this in so I am sticking it here. So, curious, I went over to the Script Services tab and saw that every single contest I could partake in or that was available, cost money. If I had a job I would not complain but it has left me with left me in a situation where I can't partake i them. So, my question to all of you is do you know of any "free to enter" contests I could start out with? Even if the award for winning is just bragging rights and feedback, its more than what I could ask for.
What are your recommendations on the topic?
If it helps, my goal and interest is in getting some sort of feedback on my scripts. I am entering a stage in my present project where the people I am working with don't have enough experience for me to learn from. They can help me catch small things like spelling and grammar that I miss, but ultimately, I need to find new places I can seek out constructive criticism on my work from someone with more experience. If I can enter a few contests to test my work against others along the way, even better. In fact it would be preferred.
Thoughts?
Derek Reid Thanks man! I appreciate the info! I will check them out for sure!
Unfortunately you're asking for script critique from folk who cannot afford give their professional knowledge away for free. Many of the folk who read scripts for festivals do so pro bono to aid the local festivals. You can post your loglines and scripts on S32 for free and maybe get someone in here to comment & help, but understand that most of those in here know little, if any more that you do, Your education does not come free

As Derek mentioned, Film Freeway is a good place to go to. It has a few cheaper options. Independent Talents is 5 dollar to enter, there is no feedback but if you place then I guess that means you are on the right track. A few others for that price but they wouldn't be anywhere near the top end of festival standards but it is a starting place to test your work.
David Whelan Derek Reid This looks like a really good place to start. Thank you both for the insight. It at least gives me something to work towards until I get a job again. Hopefully soon. Thanks again guys!

You could try Talentville for feedback, you’ve got to give feedback to get points to buy feedback but for me it was useful to read other’s scripts...and it’s free, which if you are skint is the best feature. Good luck! :)
Martina Cook Are there websites for this Talentville or is this something I would look for in my local town?
