I did it! I finally finished writing my Hallmark Christmas Movie screenplay. Now I just need to pitch it to the right people so that it can actually end up airing on the Hallmark Channel.
I'm bringing this back to life because I also just finished a Hallmark-like screenplay; did you have any luck? If yes, how? And if not, what did you learn about the process?
No luck (yet), Donna. Have a couple of producers still considering my script, and I was able to get a 'Letter of Intent' from a prominent Canadian singer to play my lead role, but other than that I'm still in "wait-and-see" mode. Tried something a little different with this script - the focus of the story is on the leading man more than the central female character - so that may have worked against me somewhat, but I'm still trying (and learning).
Was the letter of intent something recommended? I have a lot of connections to soap opera actors, who seems to be pretty popular in those movies. I could probably get an attachment, but not sure how much it would help.
No, I don't think anyone really recommends Letters of Intent anymore - unless if it's from an A-list mega-star. Even then, they still don't seem to carry as much weight as they used to. I've gotten a couple of LOI's over the past couple of years, and they really haven't made much difference.
I had someone shopping a pilot of mine and he kept getting all these LOIs and I did wonder if they mattered at all. FWIW, though, I do think having a male focus will hurt--everything I hear and read, and all the calls want female-forward scripts.
Good luck.

All the best Randy - I have a Christmas movie airing on Hallmark that I was fortunate to score! If you need a composer let's connect!

Hey Randy: You and I are ornaments hangin on the same tree. I just finished writing a Hallmark Christmas movie as well. Good luck to both of us.
Best of luck!
Way to go, Randy! Good luck with it!

Yeah, my next Hallmark script is definitely going to be more female-forward!
