Hi, Everyone - John Alan Simon and I have just returned from Geena Davis' Bentonville Film Festival 2019. I was an Official Juror and John was a VIP Industry guest for panels and moderating Q and As. I screened a documentary I produced, 'The Good Breast' in 2016, so have experienced BFF as both a juror and filmmaker. I can't say enough good things about this festival - it's a great environment for filmmakers and most of the screenings we attended were packed. Highly recommend it for those of you who are making films / docs that have either diversity/inclusion or women as a major component of story or cast / crew.
Our company, Discovery Productions is embarking on a project that might be of interest to some of you cinephiles. We are doing a 4K Digital restoration of Dennis Hopper's classic film, OUT OF THE BLUE. The film premiered in Cannes in 1980, and it's one of Roger Ebert's favorite films. John and I did a 35mm restoration in collaboration with Cinemateque Francaise in 2010, and those 35mm prints screen in art houses/cinemas around the globe. We want more people to be able to experience Hopper's masterpiece, so we're launching a crowdfunding campaign in the next couple of weeks to help fund the restoration. I'll post details in the proper Stage 32 section when we launch.
In other Discovery Productions' projects news, Yorgos Lanthimos ('The Favourite') will be directing 'Pop. 1280,' feature film adaptation of Jim Thompson's novel.

Thanks, Andrew. That's music to my ears! Or should I say "My, my, hey, hey, rock 'n roll is hear to stay" as Neil Young sings in the title song of OUT OF THE BLUE. Really appreciate your well wishes and I'll let you know when we launch. Hope you will be so kind to support and share the campaign.

Sure thing, I'll support and share, just say the word. I'm certain you know the film community has responded well to restoration of several films.... You have Hopper's legacy and of course Young's great music, so people should notice your campaign.
That's wonderful, Andrew. Much appreciate your support and sharing. I hope you're right. Very excited to be working on this. It really is an incredible film.
Good stuff!
