Hey Harry, haven’t done a stage 32 pitching session quite yet but thinking about it to prepare for a crowdfund coming up, what has been your experience with them so far?
Hello, Mr. Dzumhur. 1)The problem with Slated is that they want you to have shelled out $5-10k for E and O insurance, before you apply. 2) I am envisaging applying, serially to around a hundred or more producers/EP’s, etc for our next feature nos. 5 and 6. At $35 each, this would be at least $7,000, using Stage 32...unfortunately.
Hi Ann-Marie - that's a shocking amount to paying to contact producers. And absurd. Currently I'm approaching producers directly and havenhadnsomenresponses, one of whom promises to be as helpful asnhencan. We're going to talk again this week. Good luck!
Re. Slated - I was only aware of the fact that they want you to give them $1,000 to break down your project financially, which I haven't done.

I am only aware of paying a price on slated for a script and financial analysis. A 70+ average scriptscore means a solid blueprint for the film. See more details on slated.com.

Hi Harry - well there seem to be a number of businesses that will evaluate your business/film for you, and for most people they're prohibitively expensive - and I doubt they're too useful. As I told one such purveyor recently - "If I had that money I would make this/a movie." Yes their package was expensive.
Going back to your original - very good - post, I imagine that a lot of people on here are trying to tell themselves that they didn't just waste their money trying to get a producer's attention/ getting a script evaluation. But they probably did.
Hi Lauran, we should talk more often. You are full of ideas and good opinions. Anyway, yes Slated.com is expensive, and you’ll want to have a really good scoring to get a producer’s attention. One of the things I learned is that's also very important before attaching a director to a movie is his former box office performance. It is a huge thing for financiers. They won't put their money on the table if the director or producer is a nobody. That's the truth. It's best to get an A or B-list actor with good box office credentials and try to find a similar A or B director before packaging a Bible.
Thanks Harry - good points. Thanks for compliment also! Slated always said they would have a free level but soon they’re stopping that - you’ll have to pay for a financial analysis ($1000 )- to even be seen on the site.

He he regarding a flop, Harry. I think competitions and any other thing to pay to get seen/heard is ridiculous. Currently I'm communicating with a few producers directly - one of whom said he'll do all he can to help, but nothing's happened yet. Even when you communicate directly it's not the fastest process. Yes I'm trying the lottery too, but I imagine even when I win it will still be very useful to know people in the film business. Personally I feel I'm destined to make movies so I'll get a break, hopefully real soon. The difficulty of this process helps make us better at we do eventually, I imagine. Good luck with your work!
