As a screenwriter we are always looking to create a world. But also write engaging characters. As actors what are things you wish we did more of in a script. Things to potentially help you out. Would love suggestions.
Great question! As a woman, acting I would say more fully developed female characters. I think we have been moving in that direction but still see many movies with several great male roles and one female character who is only there to be pretty! :) (nothing wrong with being pretty but you can be pretty and interesting) Personally I like backstories and details as well as they can help an actor a lot in portraying the character the way the writer imagined. Happy writing.
Erik you crack me up! Especially the I just woke up and this question too much. But yes I wish we could inject more ad libs for sure. I myself like to write more conversational if I can. To me it seems a lot of shows do have a lot of dialogue. Lines that hope to show intelligence but takes away from the story. Not talking heads walking down the street.
Madeleine Falk I only write female driven stories. Mostly action adventure and crime dramas. Big budget films that I hope to make it on the screen. Don’t get me wrong seeing a beauty on film is great. But I’m sure women can do more than run down a beach. Baywatch is done. I need more of The Long KISS Goodnight, GI Jane, the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Plus a spinoff movie with Halle Berry in John Wick 3. We either are crying on film or a side kick to men. I think the girls got more in them. Great response
@Kay Luke I was actually joking with him about Improv. One of the Masters is Jim Carrey crazy self in a lot of his comedies. But no I don’t think an entire feature fully improvised will work. As for Reality TV they give them the core story for the scene and let them have at it. It’s more of - today you are going to punch your best friend in the face. Let us know what triggered it haha Thank you for all the links and the reply.
Erik aka Christopher Walken that doesn’t give me much. But thanks for the feedback :)

Erik Jacobsen quick question - could you pull off freestyling lines? Improv background must be strong.
