Hi, I am wondering if anyone else out there is an introverted writer. I find being introverted is a benefit to actual writing, but a significant barrier to marketing. It seems to me that producers should make more of an effort to find introverted writers since writing is mostly an activity done alone. Instead they want us to pitch, attend gathering and compete for the attention of a few "big shots", or go to conventions and kiss up to someone. When a singer is hired they audition and sing. And dancers dance, And actors act. But writers pitch. Well, I don't pitch, I write. I write alone and I write a lot, but I can't do the marketing thing. Suggestions?

Hey Robert, you're not alone being an introvert. We talk about this all the time on Stage 32. Unfortunately part of the job of being a writer is that you will need to market yourself to get jobs, which will require you to be in rooms and in meetings when your work gets made, so we encourage you to really try and work on growing stronger at it. I just put an introvert class on sale, if you're interested: https://www.stage32.com/classes/Networking-For-Introverts. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is that you're not alone and that if you continue to work at it, it will get better. We all were introverts at one time. The community here will really help you with that. And...always keep writing :)
