Introduce Yourself : Newby. by David Parle

Newby.

I was directed to this site by a friend Patricia Shannon, so just a quick introduction I was in a previous life a Detective Sergeant with the UK police retiring after 30 years, now living in Spain. I spend my relaxing time. Huh!! Writing about my experiences fictionalized to protect the victims etc.and am published under pen name Roger Rapel. I dealt with many murders, rapes, child abuse and murders to name but a few. So just saying hello to fellow writers.

Hola Senor Parle, nice to meet you.

Thank you Pamela, yes unfortunately the real dark side of life. But there is one thing that keeps you sane whilst dealing with such inhumane cases; that is humour. It may sound to the outsider callous, but when you find the bodies of murdered kids who have been killed because of some sex ring it tares you up, so if you had no release you would turn inside out. Of course things have changed now with counselling etc. But in my day, it was down the bar, laughing and joking with colleagues to relieve the pressures.

Sorry, so in reply to your comment, yes many cases I have written about, using a character, who's persona I mish-mashed from a couple of colleagues. I was asked am I in there. I plead the 5th amendment on that one.

David, welcome to Stage 32 and thank you for sharing. It truly is horrible to hear about a fraction of what you've witnessed. However, the world needs coping mechanisms for such atrocities, and that is often found through writing. I look forward to connecting and reading your work in the future! Have a blessed day.

Thanks Kay, my contact Patricia Shannon frombooks2movies has written a script of my first horror book 'The Wallet' which after final polishing will be presented on the new blood. Then I have another in the wings. But thanks again for your comments. David
