Hi new friends! I have teamed up with an Award-Winning director and talent to make/create "Asking For It" which is a short film adaption of a comedic short play. "Asking For It" is a short film that flips gender bias on its own head and takes a look at an interaction with a female police officer and a male victim while reporting a case of hit & run. Adapted from a play by the same name by Rhea MacCallum, Asking "For It" comically examines the interrogation process that comes after someone has reported a crime and how all too often, victims are not believed for their word. While the subject matter is very real, the satire between our short and reporting sexual assault opens up this often difficult conversation by approaching it through comedy.
We are hoping for any executive producers to come onboard or any donations to make our short film and be able to submit to festivals. These donations would cover gear rental and procuring a rental cop car. As a sexual assault survivor and a comedy writer, I truly believe this film has a great message and approaches this huge topic with a breath of comedic relief. RAINN and The Rowan Center back this film and as I mentioned, our director has already won multiple film festivals and we're hoping this one has just the same amount of success.
If you'd like to view our pitch deck or read the script, please let me know! Any donations are welcome through PayPal to: askingforitshortfilm@gmail.com
