Not sure if I'm what you're looking for but I might be. I'm not physically located there but lived there a while back. I also have a TV pilot set there and NOLA is almost a character. What's on your mind?
Thanks for the reply. An eventful evening in NOLA this week inspired an idea for a one set stage play using a 24 hour restaurant as the backdrop that I was lucky enough to spend a few hours in. Do you know Melba's Poboy Shoppe on Elysian Fields? I know zero about stage writing and was hoping to find someone with a little live stage experience and a good knowledge of the Ninth Ward area to advise and help add some authenticity. I've written a few screenplays for features and one tv pilot. Thanks in advance for any ideas. -Chris
Sorry, I don't know that restaurant or even the Ninth Ward area, particularly post-Katrina. Much more familiar neighborhoods on the other side of Canal, starting with the Quarter all the way over to Carrollton where I lived. Also don't know much about stage writing, other than the dialogue has to be pretty stellar. Sorry I can't help much, good luck with your project. Thanks.
I went to East Jefferson High School way way back in the day. I've written three screenplays set in New Orleans. They take place mostly in the French Quarter. I haven't sold anything. New Orleans was fun.
I lived in New Orleans so long ago I ate at Taco Bell there for the first time. I have eaten at MOTHER'S restaurant. Sounds a lot like Melba's. Worked at a car wash over on Airline Highway one summer.
New Orleans is always a great setting for a screenplay. I still keep in touch with a few high school friends down there. Spent my honeymoon in New Orleans. Mother's deep-fries everything.

I had a nice breakfast and horrible Bloody Mary at Mother's years ago.
