Shooting a Western in Texas-No Surprise There!

Hello, Stage 32. I have made some terrific connections here and look forward to creating some new ones. I recently relocated to San Antonio from LA to be with family here, and I am expanding my Texas network as I prepare to shoot a Western later this year. We'll be casting, crewing up, and shooting here. I'm interested in connecting with anyone in the film communities of Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, and beyond. As this is the first of many productions I will be connected to, I look forward to the potential collaborations that may come from my presence on this site. Thank you to Stage 32 for the service you provide!

Jason Mirch

Hey Marc! I’m the Director of Script Services at Stage 32. I’m also a big fan of Westerns! Best of luck on the project! If you ever need any thoughts or guidance I am happy to help. Good luck!

Marc Isaacs

Jason Mirch, thanks so much. I'll keep that in mind. We want to deliver this in the best way possible and having helpful resources is a must.

Richard "RB" Botto

Always great to see you, Marc!

Jay Thomas Fox

Hi Marc- My aunt lives on a large ranch in Little Elm (35 mi. north of Dallas). Her husband's actually a well-known equestrian veterinarian. I plan on visiting them soon. Also have close friends in San Antonio. Interestingly enough, I was the lead actor in a recent modern-day western hitting the IFF circuit in 2020. Maybe we can connect at some point in the near future, but until then -- best of luck w/ all your endeavors! --Jay

Kevin Isaacson

Hi Marc. Nice to meet you. I have written and directed 5 short films and 1 feature-length action film. I am currently attached to direct a Western as well and I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck with your Western!!!

Malcolm Hart

Hi Marc. I'm crazy about Westerns and have written the ultimate. It's based on the Oedipus Rex written originally 2500 years ago by Sophocles. I call the Screenplay Oedipus Rex. It mirrors the original Sophocles, finding parallels to the 2,500 year old Greek tragedy in its sense of things happening beyond the control of Man, Fate portended. A spiritual element, a crazy old man from the hills who can cause rain and make things in general happen. Mexican fortune tellers reading palms of the dreaded future. It relies on the mythical West. for its gun slinging, general brutality and religious beliefs. The ideas of reality are parallel to those of the Native Americans in early days.. As I wrote it I heard the dramatic music of Carlos Santana.

I am a filmmaker with one minor Hollywood credit as writer of the original story for Vanishing Point. My other claim to fame is as a unit director at the Woodstock week-end. If you find this in the least bit interesting please access my website www.malcolmhartfilms.com where you will find a link "WRITING" and this amazing screenplay is hiding there. There's also a lot of stuff about me personally a cv , a number of video portraits, a couple of video docs and a couple of little films - one called "NO TIME" which is a take on a Navajo Rodeo at Window Rock, Arizona Whatever you think of Oedipus Rex please let me know.

I'm English I've lived in New York, Florida, Los Angeles, Arizona but haven't yet made it to Texas - only to drive through.

Bob Fanucchi

Welcome Marc. Great to have you in Texas.

Philip Sedgwick

Hey Marc, There are heaps of folks in Tucson who might migrate to Texas to do a western. I was at a casting call for one here recently and dudes showed up with their own guns and costumes. PM me and I can put you in touch with some resources.

Brian Smith

Wow! Good luck! I love westerns, and would love to see more produced.

Richard "RB" Botto

Great stuff, Phillip.

Marc Isaacs

What a tremendous boost of good energy. Thank you, everyone! Also, I look forward to following up with you on resources, Philip Sedgwick , and looking at your website, Malcolm Hart! Jay Thomas Fox, it sounds like we should definitely chat sometime, too. I'd love to see your modern-day Western. Kevin Isaacson, feel free to send me links to your short films, if they're available.

Malcolm Hart

Marc. Your response to all that wish you well is, to say the least, gentlemanly. It bodes well for you and very encouraging in this sometimes harsh industry. Bless you.
