Producing : Actor Reel Editing by Brendan Thatcher

Actor Reel Editing

Hey all! I want to know what goes into a killer actor reel. I'd like to start editing reels for actors who are submitting to producers in order to audition for roles. What are the ingredients of a great reel? How do you want the intro bio page to look and what information should be included? How long should it be, and how many clips should be included? Does an intro song work during the bio screen, or should it be silent? I'd love any feedback I can get, so I can put together some amazing reels for clients that make it easier for you to call in actors for auditions.

SHORT! Keep it short & to the point. For a no experience actor - a couple of headshots & monologues in a couple of different genre - maybe 20 - 30 seconds each. For an actor with some experience, include an out-take. By short, I generally mean about one minute - but there's a lot more to it.
