Screenwriting in Seattle

I’ve been screenwriting for many years now and have had a couple big name stars, as well a production company show interest. I’ve never taken the time to get an agent to submit my work. Most will tell me to submit it through an Agent. I now live in Seattle, and was wondering if anyone out there knows of an agent or lawyer who can submit two of my finished SP’s?

Doug Nelson

Let me get this straight: You live in Seattle & you want an Agent to present/pitch your work in Hollywood? Or; you live in Seattle and you're looking for a more local Agent? Seattle has a viable filmmaking crowd - but you'd rather go to Hollywood. I know & have worked with a few fairly strong Actors in the Seattle area - now they stay home and earn a living doing ads and voice over.

Tom Batha

Can you get the big name stars and the production company to recommend your script?

Dan Guardino

If you can attach a big name star to your screenplay you should be able to get an agent to submit it. If you can attach one to your screenplay I could probably get my agent to submit it for you.

About 10 years ago I received a call from Esparza/Katz productions. They were in possession of a period piece I had written, La Periodista and the Revolution, a story that takes place during the Mexican revolution. They told me before they could do anything I needed to resubmit it through the proper channels. An agent. I was living in LA at the time and going through some personal shit, and fled to Seattle. I realize now, that I need to overcome my fear of rejection and submit it. Can you help me? I have other screenplays, one of which a friend pitched to Salma Hayek. Who said send it to her production company.

Dan Guardino

Did you send her company the script? If not do it and write requested material in the subject line or if you are mailing a hard-copy write "REQUESTED MATERIAL" on the envelope.

William Martell

If you have a production company and Stars, you don't need an agent - you need a lawyer to do the contract.

Janet Lynn

How do you get an agent?
