Another MeetMe weekend and the posts are always interesting.
Being fairly new here and new to the focus that unites us, I am always eager to learn. Having many eclectic skills brought me into an editing/consulting gig with a warm script that led to an official Letter of Intent from Warner, which was astounding. The script was picked up and heading into production, which is even wilder! Alas, my lack of credentialed resumé entries kept me out of the funding formula here in Canada. Sigh, one lives, one learns, and one carries on.
With a few doors ajar in LA and with a new script in genesis mode (with at least one hundred loglines crumbled up on the floor around me), the midnight candle burning begins anew. I am officially unrepresented and while I have no credentials to offer, my thoughts, prose, unbridled perspectives, and other eclectic skills make for creative fodder.
While I tend to lurk, I do enjoy experiencing the thoughts of other creative souls here.
I read your bio Drew and you have a fascinating background! Having a developer mind and a creative mind is truly remarkable. Glad you stepped out of the shadows and introduced yourself. I'm sure you're going to find some great creative colleagues here.
Thank you Amanda, that was very kind. I accept that with quiet gratitude as many do not truly understand that coding is like writing is like art. We create and bring to life the odd data beings in our mind's eye, helping them grow into a whole much more than their parts. Such is the same with a concise script that allows a reader's mind to fill in the blanks and take the story to places not intended. I like that. Reviewing my current script with a trusted friend, it was remarkable to watch his mind start to see the movie I projecting and to run with it along his own tangents. Gold.
I noted the depth of your networking here and appreciate the level of skill and knowledge you bring to bear, so... kudos to you!
Hello Drew! Read your bio as well, and it's a very interesting background. I'm completely lost when it comes to things like IT and especially writing code, so I've always had an appreciation for people who can take that and use their vision to bring things to life that we could have never anticipated. And congrats on your letter of intent from Warner! That's awesome. Hope to connect with you soon.
Welcome Drew!
Hey Drew! I am the Director of Script Services at Stage 32. Great to have you as part of the community. Keep up the hard work!

Thank you kindly, folks!
@Brian, my tech was of distinct advantage with my first gig as consulting editor for a pilot pitched to WB. I took a sole creator who was editing in isolation and helped move her to remotely collaborating with me and had to dig deep to recover her first six season-01 scripts that were not properly backed up, and manually got them integrated into writerDuet.com. This single action likely paved the way to the pilot being picked up as it was integral to an extended editing session lasting months.
One challenge with being so technical: disengaging the tech orientation to simply allow the creative energy to manifest. But when I am "au cosho", this happens naturally. {I will leave my shorthand unexplained to see if anyone gets it ;) }
Drew Curry : Wow, That's an impressive feat - especially getting the scripts from one format to another. And yes, I agree that being technical and detailed oriented can be challenging to balance with the "big picture."
