Hi everyone,
It's a very strange world that happened in a few short weeks and it has us all simultaneously frightened and scratching our heads to figure out what's happening and how to find a place in this new world that could last weeks, months or years. Ironically, we editors are already pretty experienced in social distancing...practicing out art in isolation usually...so that part isn't so strange. It's finding those jobs that once were the terrain of post facilities and now cut loose. We have to make our own worlds now that the infrastructures are locked out or cut off for us. I am trying to invent new outlooks, find newer resources, people that might have not had the resources or network to produce their own stuff. I am sure the money I used to make in the old world will not return soon...but I am open to finding those struggling to find their voice and stories now that we are on a more level playing field. I find myself o[en to one-offs, working with people with ideas without the resources to realize them. I'd be curious how others are looking at the brand new strange world we're forced to live in. All I can say is we will persevere...and create. The force be with you all.

It is an opportunity for us screenwriters to give you all lots of ammo for when you guys are free to work. I've had much more interest in reading my screenplays from producers, etcetera. It's a writers dream-come-true. :)

I can completely relate to what you are saying. While the everyday practice of Editing is one that facilitates isolation, we Editors thrive off of the collaborations that come with the normal production process. (Not to mention the one-off clients, those are always a big help, too.) I have been using this time to update my reels and learn new skills. I am preparing for the next chapter in the best way that I can imagine -- by creating. Wishing you well during this time. We will surely get through this.

Hey Jonathan, I was smack dab at the end of a Season 11 delivery for the show NCIS:LA, when this all went down. We were fortunate to be able to pivot so quickly and got editorial and post finishing set up to finish the last 3 episodes remotely. It's a brave new day, I know some software/hardware solutions will be designed to help our cause and become even more effective in the future. I look forward to the day when I can move out of state and maintain all of my client relationships and collaborations. Be well and stay safe ya'll!
