Distractions as Opportunites

I am guessing that many of our network are finding all the news about the pandemic as a distraction. Some of our friends here are just taking the opportunity to shelter in place and get whatever work done that can get done, done.

As a creator, I can tell you that just as problems are simply opportunities that require adaptation and a change of perspective to be turned; distractions are also opportunities.

Opportunities to create new stories. Every distraction either based on some new pandemic related news or even just your dog barking at the mailman is a seed. A seed of a story.

Stories are everywhere. Sometimes, we have to make them up from imagination. But, many great stories start as an actual experience.

Here is the takeaway. Keep working. Do whatever you can to move your stories from imagination to product. If you are finding yourself stonewalled by a shelter in place order, use it.

Use the wall to adapt and find a way to tell your story by either going around the wall, digging under it, or jumping over it.

I am not suggesting that you put yourself or your colleagues at risk unduly. I am suggesting that the way you planned to or wanted to tell your story can be changed to suit the current circumstances.

Stay healthy friends and colleagues. But keep working.

Never give up.

@DL Yeah this is one life changing and life challenging curveball but it must not tie our hands as Artists. We need adapt to the bizarre war and evolve our innate skills, the virus may morph but so must we.
