Hello group. I'm Richard Alvarez, a Texas based screenwriter and film maker. While I'm new to Stage 32 I've worked in the industry all my life. Starting in television out of high school, (back when 'film at eleven meant film) - and migrating into radio, film and theater.
I've worked live action stunt shows as a performer and director, and also fight-arranged for features. I've won awards for documentary film making and had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people along the way.
My primary focus these days is on screenwriting. I've produced and sold a number of shorts and optioned five of my features. (Two of them twice). But the vagaries of development hell have yet to see them reach the big screen.
Looking forward to meeting other writers and filmmakers.
Hi Richard, thanks for sharing your experience. I too have had options sold but never to production status. Keep up the good fight.
The money is nice - but I'd really love to see them come to fruition. Thanks for the welcome!
Doing ok Maurice. Keeping busy during 'lockdown'. Adapted a feature into a one-hour pilot I've begun shopping. Now finishing up research for a new WWII script.
What part of Texas are you these days
Hey Robert. Enjoying the coastal life down near Corpus Christi at the moment. But (before the lockdown) I'd worked on projects in Austin, San Antonio and Houston.
I'm a big fan of WWII aircraft- and used to fly sailplanes. But this project is taking me underwater. The submarine service is full of some truly remarkable stories. I'm having to learn a lot of the nuts and bolts, to make it seamless however. Good fun.
