Hello, Stage 32! My name is Tennyson E. Stead, and I'm a resident blogger as well as a screenwriter, director, producer and content creator. This month's Stage 32 blog was on writing diverse characters, and you can find it here:
https://www.stage32.com/blog/How-To-Write-Strong-Diverse-Characters
This week, I'm working on the development of a pair of features for a producer I know... and I'll share more on these as they come into focus.
Meanwhile, I'm developing a piece of intellectual property through Patreon called Jump Rangers about kid space commandoes fighting alien dinosaurs and other monsters so humanity can have a future among the stars. Right this moment, I'm writing a young readers novel in that universe - and if anyone's interested, I've made the first chapter available for free: https://www.patreon.com/posts/chapter-1-of-of-36640040
Most of my Jump Rangers efforts until now have been spent on developing the property as a tabletop roleplaying game, and I'm starting a live gameplay stream tomorrow called The Saturday Morning Cartoon Show. We'll be streaming Saturdays, 11-1 Pacific, and you can find us at: http://twitch.tv/8sidedfilms
If you like what you see with Jump Rangers, please share the Patreon! As soon as we hit $550 a month, we'll be putting a well-known artist in the indie TTRPG community on the project... and her work will define the visual landscape of everything we're building. I can't wait for that, and there's some music we can pay for in the meantime. Our page is at: http://patreon.com/jumprangers
In the meantime, I'm still moving forward with my 8 Sided Films projects. Development art is underway for my directorial debut feature Quantum Theory, I'm doing rewrites on my quirky, Gilliam-esque modern fantasy The Ravens, and I'm working with a writer on my LGBTQ romantic modern fantasy A Changeling Love Story. Good things are happening, and I can't wait to share them with the world.
How is everyone? What are people up to?
Best regards,
Tennyson
Hi Tennyson, You've got a lot of cool stuff happening. What's the log line for Quantum Theory? That's one of my favorite subjects : )

Boom.
Anne Marie Robinson, thank you! This is the logline:
Two women of science build a prototype with the power to alter reality itself... and a sinister defense contractor steals the prototype!
It's a very fast-paced, very nerdy, intense and silly sci-fi heist movie in the vein of Sneakers or Hackers, but with a lot of Star Trek, Marvel Comics story logic packed into the script. In terms of the writing, it's kind of at the intersection between Jonathan Nolan and Diablo Cody... and in terms of the overall film, I think it'll feel like a collaboration between Joss Whedon and Steven Soderbergh.
If you're curious, I'm always happy to share the script and materials.

Doing quite well, Tennyson. Been full speed ahead on any number of projects as well as the day to day of running this joint.
Richard "RB" Botto Well done, sir. Stay healthy and take care of yourself, my good man!

Richard "RB" Botto How is the biopic screenplay you were commissioned to do coming along? I don't envy you having to keep so many plates spinning at Stage 32 and then want to spend time writing.

Hi Tennyson, your projects sounds great. My 3 scripts feature strong diverse leads so I am excited you did a webinar on it. I would love to hear it. In fact, on Wed. I was in the pitch tank with Anna Henry and Jason (it's in the vault if you want to listen--I think I was 2nd or 3rd) and pitch a true story based on the life of an African American woman during pre and post Civil War times. It is a character-driven film for a strong African American woman lead! Would love to learn from your webinar!

Deep in the writing, Peter Mahan. Had to switch gears last week to create a new bible for the TV project I've mentioned in the past. That was a fun endeavor. Some more work on that this week and then back to the other script. Thanks for asking!
