Introduce Yourself : A Writerly Weekend by Debra Montague

A Writerly Weekend

Hi everyone. I'm Debra; living outside of Chicago. I'm an introvert so ordering me to stay-at-home is akin to give me Christmas, my birthday, and the lottery all at once. I've been writing, writing, writing. Lots of ideas keep popping into my head, especially when I'm writing. I feel like Homer Simpson, "Shut up, brain, or I'll poke you with a Q-Tip."

I've been working on four different scripts, all dramas. Two are fairly far along in rewrites. The other two are in pieces. I find it helps me in rewrites, to be able to put a script aside for a month and come back to it. I recently found a typo in version 22 of my most developed script. No one has commented on it, not even the two friends who proofread for me. It wasn't big; and extra "s" on a word; but man, makes me feel like, "Who wrote this drivel?"

I reorganized my desk and that has contributed to feeling way more productive. I can find all those things I need when I work on some of the scripts I've started. You do all this research and then it goes in a large pile because then it's all in one place; never mind intermingled with all my other research for other projects. Plus, the reorganization forced me to put all the various script pieces into folders so I can actually see what I have written over the years. So.Many.Words.

My next task is to move the outdoor chairs and table from the basement to the deck so I can write outside. Sitting on the deck is great for those times when I'm stuck.

Debra Montague thank you so much for sharing! I am inspired to "write, write, write" now as well! I love your enthusiasm! And I too, LOVE working outside! In my old apartment, I did most of my writing on the balcony. Now I love to work in parks near my new place!

Taylor, it has to stop raining in Chicagoland. We got 5 inches of rain just yesterday. I felt like Pooh. "And the rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down, in rushing, writhing, rivulets."
