As a make-up artist, I've always enjoyed the art of telling a story and being a part of the creative process. Make-Up is the one component in filmmaking that is most effective when it is subtle; creating the illusion of reality. With high definition and digital production, the knowledge and use of the correct tools and application can create realistic SFX which can make the difference in the story's believability. Make-Up gives visualization to the director's image of the character in the moments of the story and the actor's interpretation/reflection of that character in those moments. Together we create a truth to the imaginary circumstances we want the audience to believe.
With over 20 years of communicative and performance skills, I have a broad range of experience in the artistic fields of theatre, film, and visual poetry. From the development of a one-woman show for the Fringe Festival in Philadelphia, PA to a black-box performance in Savannah, GA of a multi-media performance of the visual poem entitled Poetry ‘n Art in Motion. The foundation of this piece was based upon my most recent publication – LIGHT OF TRUTH: A Love Journey, a book of original poetry and watercolors and the 1st prize recipient of the TAZ (The Author’s Zone) 2015 Author Award for Poetry.
My interest also includes singing a Capella jazz painting with watercolor and playing the Brazilian Tricero Surdo drum with a local Samba drumming group. My passion combines all of my artistic expression through the introduction of Visual Poetry and Visual Storytelling as a multi-media illustration for young people to expand their imaginations.
