Hey all,
I recently decided to distribute a short film - more a teaser film or a prequel than a stand-alone - with CryptTV. For any horror filmmakers out there, I thought I'd share some info.
First off, here's the link to the flick on the CryptTV YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOECfjQHcHo&t=68s
CryptTV creates some of their own content and also licenses content from indie filmmakers like me and my writer/director partner Chad Costen. If you're looking to get your film up on their platform, as far as I'm aware there's no money in it and it's for exposure - which was our expectation as they have a huge following. I think we're now close to 190,000 views and it's interesting to see all the comments, both good and bad - their audience appears to be quite active and chatty.
To sum up, it's been a good exercise in seeing audience reactions but if you have a short film and are looking to monetize, I'd recommend other platforms or engaging a distributor like Shorts International. We've had financial success with them on one of our other short films.
Best,
Timo

Thanks for the heads up. Will check them out. Did they pay you or do they pay based on views?
There was no pay, it was just for the access to the audience and feedback.
Based on YouTube's advertised rates, IF they paid CryptTV at all (YouTube being known to change and deny actual counts), 190,000 views would generate $127.30 payable to the channel. This would be the split between CryptTV and their content providers. At the same time, YouTube, again based on their advertised rates, had to generate for YouTube itself between $57K and $200K on those same streams. Take your own lesson from that.
