2020-The Movie

So for a second let's break the 4th wall on this episode we're in.

What advice would you give to whomever is scripting our current circumstances?

Mine are:

OK, you made your point. Inject a little humor. Put some humanity in your characters' circumstances. Global pandemic, economic instability AND riots/looting/man's injustice to man ALL in the same script? What's next? Rabies-infested sodomy geese? Get some focus, Writer--you're all over the place!

Your turn!

Doug Nelson

Ain't it the truth! Quit the preaching, I go to the movies to be entertained. I go to church to get preached at.

Eric Christopherson

I'm not sure, but I think the director is Quentin Tarantino.

Cheryl Allen

Eric Christopherson I lolled. Like legit laughed out loud. :)

Jason Mirch

Drop the murder hornet subplot.

Cheryl Allen

yeah. That one isn't doing well in the screening room

Phil Parker

Here in Australia, we had bushfires for months just before COVID. Now we're in a recession. No riots, though, so I guess things could be worse. Maybe we need an alien invasion next, just for the heck of it. #not #dontprobeme

Tony Ray

Focus on the people and their individual stories, but see if you can't find stories that many in current circumstances can relate to. For instance, if one of the characters is a nurse who normally uses humor to relieve stress but can't bring themselves to smile during the pandemic. Or maybe find a way to highlight the internal fear amongst essential workers while comparing them to the fears felt by those who were told to stay home.

Just spit balling to get the gears turning here.

A. S. Templeton

Escapist entertainment has always found a ready audience tired to death of current events.
