Introduce Yourself : Content Developer, former News Producer/Writer by Alan Champion

Alan Champion

Content Developer, former News Producer/Writer

Hi! My name is Alan Champion. I’ve worked in television news broadcasting, and am a Content Developer of film and television narratives, today. I have conceived well over 50 such projects in multiple genres, and have been trying to get them espied by studios and production houses for some time, now. As I tend to write how I think people should talk, instead of how they actually speak, I am somewhat lacking in dialogue and screenwriting skills. Friends in the industry, who have read some of my narratives have suggested that I refashion/remodel them into books, given their intriguing premises, characterizations and resolutions, as a marketing strategy, and that perhaps producers will get to read in them in this genre. Yet, I am not interested in writing books as I am exceedingly visual and visceral, and enjoy engaging hyperbolic and overblown language to lure and engage producers' visual imaginations. I would really appreciate your thoughts in this regard- how can I get my narratives read?

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,

Alan Champion

Hey, Alan Champion! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Oh, man, what a time to transition out of news! LOL!

There are lots of ways to workshop dialogue, although I wouldn't worry about that first - dialogue is literally the last thing to change, including and up to the of set. But - getting feedback from other screenwriters, table reads with actors, even doing improv with the basics of the motivations of a scene can help find authenticity in character responses.

I would suggest reaching out in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting) for feedback and in the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) to see if you can assemble a cast to do a Zoom read.

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to meet and mingle!
