I remember speaking to an L.A. based actor on set a few years ago, and he said that he auditioned remotely for most of his gigs. I have now just gotten into this 'groove' - having to do it twice in the last week - and 2 thing come to mind:
1. I run the scene 4 or 5 times before hitting 'record' with my darling reader. I mean run it for real, with costumes, props and her insistence on me being Dead Letter Perfect. We never have the opportunity to do this in a face to face audition.
2. It feels great to announce "We have an audition!" when I see the e-mail. I'm no longer alone, my reader is involved in what I'm doing and understands the logic I use to come up with a performance.
We all have the same Dream. Start in your own country o the industry is bigger there. Get training, get experience

Rahul Kumar Behera I'm not sure if it's available in India, but try setting up a profile on www.actorsaccess.com. You can find auditions there that are legitimate. The big TV shows and movies don't post auditions publicly. You need a talent agent to access those. And of course you would need to fly to the USA for any job. And right now, everything is still pretty much shut down.

Congrats on the auditions, Steve James! Awesome suggestions, thanks for this! Do you work with anyone else before the audition, too? Or is it just solo work?

Hey, Rahul Kumar Behera! We have quite a few members here from India, actually. Maybe you could start a separate post in the Acting Lounge to see if there were others outside of the system you could collaborate with? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/actingAlso, you can look up members by their location and Occupation to find more people near you: https://www.stage32.com/people
Karen E Ross , I don;t work with anyone usually, it's all me!
Hello Steve James, I am a writer and I am always looking for ways to collaborate. If you would like to have a script written specifically for you for your reel, let me know.
Many thanks, Stephen.
Thank you for sharing this insight James!
