Secrets in the Woods

They told me “What makes you think you can put a book together? You can’t even speak English right.” Well, if there is something you really want to accomplish no negative words can hold back words that are being typed out from the heart, from the soul, and from the mind. My parents couldn’t afford a teacher to teach me English so I did the best that I could learning it on my own. The first person that needs to motivate you is you. Now that I have two books and two screenplays out there, I would love to inspire others to follow their dreams and not allow small talk hold them back. Writing, filming, is what keeps my soul healing, my life exiting and gives me hope. Writing means so much more to me than just words. And one day I hope I get the chance to see my words on moving picture!

Great!

Dunya K. Ibrahim

That's very good, I hope all the best for you.

Doug Nelson

You go, girl!

Dragana Stjepic

Thank you for your kind words!

Hey, Dragana Stjepic! Wow, that's incredible, congratulations! What are you hoping to do with your screenplays - sell them or make them?

Bardi Osobuanomola Catherine

Im facing similar problems. In my script I am told I'm not writing the dialogue well because of the way i talk possibly. Now I have to change it into the whitr American way if I want to succeed there.

Dragana Stjepic

Hey Karen E Ross! Thank you and yes I would like to sell them. I would like to see a motion picture turn those events live!

Dragana Stjepic

Claude Gagne! Glad to hear that! And yes, it’s definitely hard because of how much work it takes for a foreigner who taught themselves how to speak it now write scripts. However, I love every minute of the finished part!! Hehe

Bardi! Just don’t give up! Everyone has weaknesses and strengths, even when I don’t like my weaknesses I know I have to accept them and work on them. I definitely see a major improvement from when I started and now.

Bardi Osobuanomola Catherine If you're having issues with dialogue, you could host a virtual table read to get feedback from actors. Why not post in the Acting Lounge and see if you can generate some interest? https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting

Dragana Stjepic Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives: J.Mirch@stage32.com

Just my two cents - you may want to shorten your loglines (read some from IMDb to compare). But don't take my word for it - reach out on the Producing Lounge to get more feedback! https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing

Anna Mantovani

Congratulations Dragana! I have also written books in English, despite the fact that it's not my native language. I know how difficult it is, but we won't stop trying! Wishing you all the best!

Dragana Stjepic

Karen thank you!

Dragana Stjepic

Domenic, I’m glad my words have you a push! And thank you for your support.

Dragana Stjepic

That’s right Anna!!!

Debbie Croysdale

@Dragana thanks for your inspirational thread and so true writing comes from the soul. A story waiting to be told is an imprint in the depths of the mind of writer and not dependent on text book language from any country. Congratulations on your book and screenplays.

Dragana Stjepic

Debbie Croysdale that’s right! I can say that writing has kept me alive. I had moments I wanted to give up on goals and allow stress and pain to take me but something about writing keeps me alive. It’s therapy to me. When I’m feeling emotional I just grab my stuff and start writing and everything bad disappears and everything amazing goes on paper.
