Introduce Yourself : Johnny Pugh by Johnny Pugh

Johnny Pugh

Hi guys. I am a musical composer & songwriter. I work together with a co writer (Nick Cane). Together we write music in many different genres and styles mainly directed towards the the film and tv industries. We have both been working in the music industry for decades and have toured the world as session musicians with many, many world famous bands. I am now retired from all that now and enjoy writing and recording music in my home studio. We have written some truly great music and have had minor success writing for a few short films. We have a website www.thesongmakers.com where people can listen to our music but actually trying to get anyone to spend a little time to listen to our music is proving almost impossible. When someone introduced me to Stage 32 I thought here is a site where I might be able to push my music and meet some good contacts. In my opinion music is as important as anything else in a film but unfortunately from what I see Stage 32 does very little to help composers & songwriter.

Stage 32, you should include more for us composers & songwriters because a film or tv show without music would be utterly useless.

Thanks for listening to me, please listen to our music and if any of you film makers out there are interested in letting us write some music for your film or tv shows please get in touch. My email is jpugh52@yahoo.co.uk.

Have a fabulous weekend.

Why should you take this course?... After you complete this course you will not need to take another course on music licensing! You will be ready and doing it! I have attendees in my course who took other courses and were still not ready and able to pitch to all the abounding opportunities. Now they are!

How do I know my “stuff”?...I have had hit songs and over 5000 music placements worldwide procured by my own pitching and knowledge of the business! I’ve also been involved in pretty much every scenario possible in regards to music licensing and can share the happy as well as “save” you from any potential disasters that could occur! :)

"Briefs Schmiefs" as my grandmother would say! This course focuses on the extensive diversity of pitching possibilities. Not just ads,Not just sync, not just writing for briefs, but how to pitch and place your music to all abounding opportunities (and there are lots), including to artists, films, tv, games, trailers, promos, instore retail, music supervisors, sync agents, song pluggers, managers domestically and internationally as well as ads and music libraries. You will learn all the tools necessary in a "hand holding" environment so you will really be able to "hands on" do it!! ... not just by passively watching fabulous videos and webinars but by learning the HOW TOs...How to utilize and put into action all that amazing information you are ingesting by actively participating.

This course requires you to have at least 10 well written recorded songs of professional Master quality.

This course is for you if you are ready to do it, haven't done it, or want to do more...AND...if you've been doing it for ages but need to REINVENT your business model in this world of self-licensing. To our peers who are used to the old model of "have music, have music publisher, get advances, get cuts...", this course is for YOU TOO!!! Learn how you can do it yourself! Publish yourself! Pitch for yourself! There’s no need to throw in the towel in this new world of the Music Biz.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, Johnny Pugh! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! This is definitely a great place to network and find like-minded collaborators. What would you like included for composers and songwriters that you haven't been finding?

Have you considered teaming up with a filmmaker to make a music video? Right now, I'm listening to a synthwave mix on YouTube. It doesn't even have a video, just an image, but I'm definitely more likely to listen to something if it's 1) available on YouTube and 2) has a visual component. Maybe start a post in the Filmmaking Lounge to see who might be interested in collaborating? I love challenges, so maybe you could ask what images come to mind when they hear your music! https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing

I would LOVE for you to start a post in the Composing Lounge, too! Is there something, in particular, you'd like to talk about with the community? I know we'd love to learn from your experience! https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing

I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!
