Introduce Yourself : Award winning writer in Atlanta by John Robert Franklin

John Robert Franklin

Award winning writer in Atlanta

Hey everyone, my name is John and I'm a writer based in Atlanta, GA. I am currently seeking financiers and producers to get two of my Comedy feature screenplays from the page to the screen. Come through and say hey!

Karen "Kay" Ross

Hey, John Robert Franklin! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Definitely reach out to our Director of Script Services, Jason Mirch, who is excellent at matching projects with potential executives (or managers, in your case): J.Mirch@stage32.com

You may also want to network on the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) and Producing Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/producing) to see who you could meet. Maybe you could start a post about what inspired you to write your comedy features? Or about the movies that influenced you? Nothing bonds like geeking out over the same love for a film!

Ooo, time for a getting-to-know-you GAME! If you could have been a part of any three comedy films, what would they be and why?

I just watched Role Models again, and it's such a simple and indulgent film, but it makes me laugh every time. I think I like friendships where you can be at your absolute worst, even going so far as punching them, and you can still love each other by the end. I would have LOVED to have been part of Hot Fuzz though. And maybe Beverly Hills Cop.

I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Hey Karen "Kay" Ross, it's very nice to meet you as well! I will make sure I reach out to Jason, I appreciate the info and the advice..... And for the films.... ooohh man, if I had to choose any three comedy films to be a part of.... I'd have to say, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels by Guy Ritchie, he did amazing and innovative things with the action comedy genre and a low budget. Pineapple Express, again another group of film makers that changed the comedy realm with all of their projects, and the third I think would have to be an Edgar Wright film as well, Scott Pilgrim VS. the World. Though I love all of Edgar Wright's films...Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver and many more.

Thanks for saying hey!
