Hi fellow creatives!
So during the first lockdown I decided to write, acted, directed & produced a comedy webseries filmed entirely online (via zoom) with a fellow actress friend of mine. The series is called Yes! Recruitment based on a fictional recruitment agency operating remotely online and are now available on Youtube! The idea came to me one afternoon after having a call via Zoom with another company about an event. During the call we talked lot about how the pandemic has affected peoples livelihood and how we all have to adapt to this new normal way of living. Then I thought about how many people have lost their jobs because of the pandemic with businesses Closing down but at the same time they are businesses that are actually driving because of the pandemic. I thought it would be hilarious to put together a web series based on the recruitment agencies and see the kind of jobs that people would request for following their change in the living circumstances.When I told my fellow actress friend Who is also my fellow co-writer about the idea she instantly said “yes let’s do it” and following on from that we literally had a call and made a list of possible but ridiculous jobs and the type of people that would come to our agency. And we want it to be an agency that says yes to every single job requests, no matter how far fetched or ridiculous it may sound. Being a fan of Ricky Gervais and Steve Coogan (particularly Alan Partridge) I wanted the series to be really really dry but funny at the same time. We decided From the start that it’s going to be fully unscripted and we’re going to cast actors who are really good at improvising so when we auditioned the actors we did not ask them to prepare any monologue, but instead we got them to do a quick improve during the call without them knowing. So the result of all scenes were 100% improvised although to help the actors, we did provide them with an outline of the character they will be playing and the reason why they’ve come to our ‘agency’. We do not rehearse in advance and we did not know what each of our characters were going to do during filming so it was all based on genuine reactions and I am so glad that almost every episode turned out to be really really funny. I hope you guys will make time to watch it.FYI this is my first attempt to produce anything.
