“AXIS NOXIOUS” is a love story with an element of fantasy and mystery set on the edge between two worlds. Lucas, the divine angel of death, keeps seeing Angela - the human angel of life – an ER doctor with an extraordinary yet hidden ability to see Lucas in the moments of desperation.
She fights death every day and the best place for the angel of death to be is in the hospital. His daily routine comes with the toll of souls. He’s a winner. But something changes on a special night when Angela’s powerful cry reverses his craft.
Lucas will step into uncharted territory by letting his curiosity and later stronger feelings for Angela prevail over reason. The rules of Axis Noxious, the way of life invented by him, will be broken. Saving Angel’s life in exchange for the lives of other innocent souls – that’s the price he will have to pay. Or will she let him? Is it just a love affection or there is something darker, deeper, stronger, something in the past that connects them, something that he can’t forgive himself for?
Story:
This is a story that consists of a few non-linear parts.
Part 1: Lucas as Death, Angela as the Doctor
Lucas as an angel of death meets Angela on a night at the ER after a huge explosion at the local chemical plant. Many bodies, HAZMAT teams, lacking free hands. Death is having a party of all time. Nobody can see Lucas at work. But on this particular night when the desperation reaches the highest point, Angela cries into the skies and begs them to stop. And she stops death. Lucas loses his powers not for long just for this night, but it makes him think, who is she, why her, why tonight?
He starts looking into her, he stops taking lives, he’s all busy falling in love with her. Lucas’s other inner part “The Voice” that sometimes appears as his older version – is not happy. Voice wants to stop Angela from preventing Lucas to do his job. Voice tries to kill Angela and Lucas saves her – that’s the first time he breaks his own rule – the Axis Noxious. The unnecessary body count rises as he saves her.
There is a point when he realizes that he can’t let himself spiral into the unknown and he decides that killing Angela is the only way, but he will have to do it himself. Taking her life is the hardest decision he ever made in his long career as a soul-taker. In the last second, he hesitates and saves her again, which brings more bad news.
He leaves her alone, going on a worldwide death tour: taking millions of deferred lives. Lucas was a good boy until one night at the ballet when he finds Angela married to another man. This changes everything. And he reverses the past 2 years, he comes back to the moment when they were destined to meet for the first time.
Part 2: Lucas the Death as Lucas the doctor and Angel as a doctor.
Lucas delegates his work to Voice and appears as a human on earth still with all his powers but visible to everyone. He joins the mortals as doctor Lucas Frost recently transferred to Angela’s hospital. They get together, they become friends and little by little he starts showing affection for her friends and relatives. He saves her uncle from lung cancer making the same mistake again and again, but whatever he does people still die and Angela gets punished the most. Lucas’s wars with his inner Voice become more sophisticated.
Part 3: Just Lucas Frost the doctor and Angela as an artist.
It’s the path that was created by Lucas in the first place. When she was 13-year-old her parents died and this line of the story will haunt both Lucas as the one who took them and Angela as the lonely girl who’s left abandoned.
In this part of the story Angela, who had chosen to pursue the other career at age 13, is now an artist, successful, but lonely and still broken inside. She meets Lucas, the regular doctor, not a Death in the human body, just that boy who falls in love with her immediately. He works at the same hospital she works in the alternative reality.
The story of two humans being in love can’t work long enough if the past was altered and a different path was created. The very Axis Noxious rule that Lucas was running away from had come back to make sure the balance is restored.
Angela dies on the very special, eventful, and somehow magical night. The night Lucas the doctor tells her he found the heart for the little girl, the transplant waiting for the patient.
Everything seems great until Angela dies of a stray bullet that hits her during a street shootout.
Part 4: The ending
There are two background stories in this movie.
First: Gill, the girl with the heart transplant – in all alternative realities she either dies or saved by Angela as a doctor or Lucas as an Angel or Lucas the doctor.
And the second: the events around Angela’s parents’ death. To grasp the reality of this movie you will have to open yourself to the world of the main question we ask ourselves every day – What if? It’s a hard question especially when it comes to dealing with reality. That very same question is sometimes a temporary getaway hideout for people to dream of the other version of themselves. For some, it’s the reality, for others - it’s the dream, but for Angela and Lucas it’s a never-ending love story that comes from one into another.
