I write the one that is most pressing when it comes to deadlines. I have a friend that makes about $1000 a day as a project manager. He says the greatest skill is communication and handling expectations.
Give bad news early. Very early. Keep telling people that an issue may come about. Handle their expectations.
We have just move a location of Newark to Pennsylvanian. I haven’t received pictures and videos yet. I have told them the time I will need for the fix.
Generally I work on one screenplay at a time, writing 2-5 pages a day until the first draft is done. But on occasion, I have worked on two at the same time, bouncing from one to the other when I got stuck on a scene that isn't working. It allows for a fresh perspective by taking your mind off of the difficult scene completely.
Unless you're getting paid, a deadline is just an arbitrary number, like how many hot dog could you eat if you were in a hot dog eating contest.
2 at a time. Reps/Agents will return your emails/calls if you're consistently writing new material. More scripts mean more reads. The hot new Hollywood screenwriter of 2020, Mattson Tomlin, wrote 10 specs a year when he was trying to break in. His advice: Hollywood is a casino. Gotta play with more than 1 chip (script).
I like to work on numerous things at once (screenplays, Escape Room narratives/puzzles, novels, etc.) with different projects in the research, outlining, writing, rewriting phases.

I have one that I call my "current" script, but working on others hear and there.

Gabriel, I'm currently working on three screenplays...but in the past, I've worked on as few as one at a time and as many as four.
