Hello. I'm a newby to the screenwriter arena, but interested in writing stories about medical dramas/medical comedies given my medical background. Would love to collaborate with you on projects to gain experience. I've written a feature medical social drama, if interested in moving it forward please let me know. I'm a good doctor and thus believe a good story teller ;)
Hey, Sheetal R Patel! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage 32. Nice to meet you and welcome to the community! If you'd like to learn more about me and the rest of the Stage32 team, feel free to read about us here: https://www.stage32.com/blog/Meet-the-Stage-32-Team
I was looking over your profile, but you don't have much there. Tell me about yourself! Also, I would highly suggest including a profile picture as members are more inclined to network with those they know how to relate to (spammers are notorious for not including a picture). I think it's fascinating that you're using your medical background to influence your writing! Are you thinking you'll become a consultant for TV shows as well? That's a great way to learn about writing!
Congrats on your script! Most producers, however, won't be looking for scripts, so you'll have to networking and pitch your idea (early and often). The Writer's Room actually hosts pitch practice sessions every Thursday at 7pm if you wanted to practice with us. I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read!
Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my intro blog post on how to engage with the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time.
Thank you Kay for the helpful info! Yes I am interested in becoming a consultant for TV shows or features. I would love to help out whoever I can and learn along the way!
Hi and welcome @Sheeta Hope your medical drama successful and you fine tune it for stream/tv etc. Don’t forget the right pitch to the right exec/producers. Grey’s Anatomy was pitched as “Sex In the Surgery”.
Thanks Debbie! I would love to fine tune it for tv but could use help in that arena. Do you know of which producers would be the right folks to pitch to? Not sure if you know of anyone in particular who would be interested in medical dramas?
Hi @Sheeta I studied this subject and got too much info to post here, so during holidays will compile a succinct and user friendly PDF. Don’t forget although your aiming for TV, a built in fan base can be done prior via social media or minisoding on channels such as facebook watch. (Taster “commuter” views of ten to twenty minutes). They call it this cos people can watch on way to work. Check out London Screenwriting 365 online festival, which has gone on all year due to covid, particularly in FEBRUARY there are pitch slots coming up for execs of all kinds. Will post you PDF later date, Cheers!
Great thank you!
