Have you LISTENED to a good book lately?

Is there an "after-hours-lounge" catering to audiobook listeners?

Karen "Kay" Ross

Ooo, great question, Pamela Almand! I wish I knew more than Harry Potter as a good audiobook LOL! Time to start listening to them, I guess! Also, I'm curious how they are different from narrative podcasts. Structurally, are podcasts like TV and audiobooks are like films?

But I digress... what would you suggest?

Pamela Almand

I suppose that's as good an analogy as any, although I'm embarrassed to admit I haven't listened to many podcasts! There are actually audiobooks that are released as "serial" podcasts, but most are digital downloads from companies like Audible, Chirp, Downpour, Hoopla... and you can even get them as downloads (or physical CDs) from your local library!

I’ve been digging into levar burton reads podcast where levar burton reads his favorite short stories. It’s fantastic and all usually under an hour.

I've been listening to Sherlock Holmes read by Stephen Fry (also did Harry Potter) for over a year now. The downloadable audio book is almost 72 hours. Its expensive to buy on audio but if you have a subscription you can use one credit.

Elmore Leonard's, Riding the Rap, narrated by the legendary Frank Muller. Available at most libraries via your phone ! Audio favorite ! “know what happens when you play a country tune backwards? You get your girl and your truck back, you’re not drunk anymore and your hound dog comes back to life.” I always have an audio book going while working my 9 to 5 .
