Hi Katie & Eric! Great to meet you. I'm Liza. I'm a screenwriter, and I joined this class because I am about to go in and do my first pitches to networks for a series that I co-wrote. I also want to learn more in general. I am in Newark, NJ, where my husband and I bought a house because we couldn't afford one in Manhattan or Brooklyn or fancy parts of NJ. Haha!

And nice to meet you Katie, Eric, and Liza! Playwright turned TV addict. I'm very curious to get Amanda's perspective on how things are working in post-covid world and in remote/zoom writer's rooms. Looks like they put all the New Yorkers together haha

Hey guys! I will be moving back to New Hampshire (my home state) from Los Angeles next week so I'll be on the East Coast too! So funny.

Hi all :) I'm in DC, so East Coast too (!), but am actually from a tiny island in the Med called Malta. To answer Harrison's question, I have my second feature (WW2, coming of age) in advanced development and am polishing off the TV series (BTS humanitarians workplace drama) I have most developed from my slate, to put it out in the world. I like many different things, recent TV includes Mrs America, Unorthodox, Marvellous Mrs Maisel....I tend to write underdog stories, which often have some socio-political angle. I don't generally gravitate towards Horror & SciFi.

P.S: Jordan - I think your Covid writer's room question is a great one!

I’ve been writing horror features lately but have some tv projects I’m developing and, to be honest, have always found the idea of a room extremely daunting. So - to be clear - we're supposed to be Zooming with each other to work on a collective "Garfield goes to the moon" or whatever pitch? Is that right? I think I had thought we were all coming up with our own, but in reading Amanda's recent note, it looks like maybe we should be working together.... Hit me up at k@uncomp.ninja & maybe we can still schedule something? Dunno about the group but I have a window this evening after 6pm, and tomorrow very flexibly.

I'm down for a Zoom brainstorm sesh, but for those in the group who don't have a flexible schedule... maybe we could also start a thread where we each give 2-4 ideas, then we all vote on which we think would be the best to pitch during class? (And no voting for your own ideas, of course) Just a thought- I'm up for whatever works best for everyone!

Yeah, it's a bit late in the metaphorical day for a whole call probably... Maybe the smart play is just to start an open Google doc? Probably a little more malleable than this chat thread. We can comment and upvote and tweak easier here....
