I tiptoed into this party 18 months ago and took a seat in a corner where I could look around now and then while working out what my lead characters were going to do next. Social gatherings are not my natural habitat and learning to network effectively is like learning to shoot white water rapids: so many cross currents and divergent streams. It’s been interesting to watch people take the stage to announce new accomplishments. Inspiring. I’m not headed for the stage yet, but I’m getting out of the chair and moving closer to centers of conversation to connect with people who have common interest in favorite genres. I focus on family-friendly with humor, which means something a family can enjoy together without fear there will be scenes that make parents jump to cover a five-year-old’s eyes and ears.

Welcome Deanne! Congrats on taking your first steps into the network. I love the sound of your story focus, we need more of that.

Nice to see you standing up, Deanne. This is not a marathon, not a race, so a quiet time reflecting is a valuable part of the process.

Good on you for stepping out, Deanne. I know it's not natural for all, but once you do it and get a feel for being part of the community, you'll never look back. Do check out my Coffee & Content Blog this morning (Blog on the top menu)...I posted a video that might interest you and all other introverts reading this post. Cheers!
