... and how I write because of it? Ok, bare with me...
Hi! Hello, from Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Loved my introduction to the community during the pitching to Netflix workshop and I hope everyone got as much out of it as I did. Check out my profile for a kind of breakdown of what I've done so far.
But back to the thinking part! A question got me started thinking about when I decided to start writing (not screenplays necessarily but writing in general) and I found I never actually decided to do it, it was just... unavoidable. Stories coming out of my brain on whatever sheet is available is kind of inevitable so... I might as well try and share them? And get others to help me realize them, I LOVE that part.
That being said, I am in a bit of a dry spell right now, struggling with characters more than anything else, so if you have any suggestions that does not involve spending money (I've just set up my workstation the way I like it after getting a loan to change the windows in my apartment... no spendings for a while), please write down below.
Final fun fact about me: I love playing tabletop roleplaying games, mostly Dungeons & Dragons because it's pretty much everywhere, but I just love that creative energy and fun to be had. Thanks for your attention and for continuing being awesome creative people.

Hi Emir Pasanovic , great to meet you here. I totally can relate to the question of why or what made you start writing. Your stories need to get out, so they pop up on your mind....Just like that. What exactly makes you struggle with your characters? (and i still have to set up my workstation, not done yet...).

Bridgit Li it's more of not having any characters ATM. :) I never write about myself, not sure I know how to, but always integrate parts of me into whatever I write about. You could say that I don't have parts of me to integrate into characters in order to make the stories? It's a weird space, I don't remember ever being in it before.

Whether we admit it or not, but there are always parts of us in our stories. That´s what makes a story unique and authentic. So what do you have: a story idea but not connected to a character yet? A feeling for the genre? Maybe a mood?

I have a gimmick (a fantasy I'd like to explore): connected kitchen appliances. Kind of an unexplained phenomenon that makes it possible to send physical objects (and organisms) across vast distances in moments. But in order to decide on a genre I really need the characters to kind of make the decision for me I guess. I'm playing with a a love story, a murder mystery, straight up horror... But it's all irrelevant until I get the sense of the protagonist. This really has never happened to me. :D But I feel there's something there.

If you develop the story as far as possible, there is the chance that sooner or later your characters show up. A One pager, or maybe even the Outline...It definitely sounds very interesting, even exciting. Or put it aside for a while and let it "age" like a good whine... :-)
