One of my favorite quotes from any movie is Larry Donner's (Billy Crystal) to his class in "Throw Mamma from the Train." Little did he know that Owen (Danny DeVito) would become his star pupil, but nothing is more true than that statement. I think the coolest thing about being a writer is that no one can tell you when you can work - and really, without YOU, nobody can. Producers don't have a screenplay to produce. A director doesn't have a project to direct, and actors certainly don't have words to play. It ALL begins with you, the writer. Just look at the hundreds, if not thousands of credits that run after a film. They all have a job because someone wrote a script... I hope you all realize how important you are to this industry as, without you, we have nothing.

So welcome, Claude... yes, it's the producer who should be but sadly, so many couldn't produce a shadow on a sunny day. That said, without THE script a (serious) Producer has nothing, right? Don't lose hope, if it was easy everyone would do it, right? And welding... hats off to you on that! I wish I could weld!

Oh, how much this post is needed. Gentle touches for a writer's soul!

A long standing tradition in Hollywood was to never let the writers know how important they are for fear that it would go to their heads 'cuz then they'd charge more.

Shane. Woo-Hoo! Well said. Although, I gotta admit, I may also have tossed Anne Ramsey off that train... but I digress.
Write On!
