I have never sent money to IMDb. Just posting as a warning.

Doug Nelson

Sounds fishy but I really don't know.

Ruby Kleinschmidt

The whole thing sounds like a scam to me. https://www.imdb.com/ They are an internet database on films.

Dan MaxXx

I guess you're new to the Internet? IMDB is not a scam; it's a movie database and it's free. However, maybe you clicked on "IMDBPro", which is not free. That's either a monthly or yearly subscription $$$ database.

Ruby Kleinschmidt

NO !! I am not new to the internet !!! I posted this as a warning to others.

Yes, IMDb Pro is a paid service that allows you to both update your profile and gain insider access (like agent info). Ruby Kleinschmidt - did you sign up for IMDb Pro? You can confirm by clicking the IMDb Pro icon on the homepage and see if you can sign in.

@Dan - There's no need to be rude.

@Tim - You are correct. If the script is not in pre-production, I would not list it on IMDb. The only projects that are bold enough to say "In Development" are usually big-name with A-list talent attached, which means there is no question that it is moving forward.

Ruby Kleinschmidt

No I did not sign up for IMDB Pro ....

Gilberto Villahermosa

I'm an IMDb Pro member and have never had any problem with the site. One of the ways I use the site is to find the email or mailing addresses of industry professionals that I want to sent pitches to. I also use it to research films (cost vs profit). They say "It takes money to make money!" This is one of the sites I believe is worth the investment.

Ruby Kleinschmidt

Thank you - good tp know.

Doug Nelson

Gilberto, you use the site to troll for email addresses of folk you can swamp with unsolicited material that just jam up the works, Thanx.

Gilberto Villahermosa

Doug - And yet I am now working with a solid Producer - who found ME on IMDB - to turn my first book into either a feature film or TV mini-series. i DO sent a query emails. I DO NOT send any other material. IMDb has many resources that screenwriters can take advantage of. Contact information of industry professionals is one of them. You can be one of those people who watches things happen or wonders what happened. I happen to be one who makes things happen!

Doug Nelson

AN' that's the way it works - when a Producer is ready to start a new project...He/She will find you.

Gilberto Villahermosa

But you have to make it easy for them!

Doug Nelson

Just make yourself visible - no fare hiding in the bushes.
