Filming

Has anyone on here filmed a short on an iPhone before?

Alice Barden

No, but I really want to. Check out Moment, as they have lots of equipment and great classes for iPhone filming. I have been taking my own headshots on the new iPhone 12 and the pics are spectacular. (My artistry still improving...)

I helped a friend shoot a short on the iPhone 12 max. the footage came out really well! we used the FiLMiC Pro and the moment lens

Taylor C. Baker

I shoot all the footage for my YouTube channel on my iPhone 11 Pro and it turns out beautifully!

My main piece of advice would be to invest in the proper sound equipment - the visuals are awesome - but the sound is meh. I use the RODE wireless go mic - it's perfect for YouTube, but I think it would work well for shorts as well. It directly records better audio on your videos - so you don't have to sync video and audio in post.

I also recently acted in a feature film which was shot entirely on an iphone and the footage looks great

Thanks for the advice!

Great advice Taylor C. Baker! You are so right - syncing sound in post is a huge time suck. Just curious, did the feature film use Filmic Pro (the app) in order to film on the iPhone?
