I'd like to re-introduce myself. I'm primarily a writer-director, although I found myself producing my first feature instead. It was a crime-drama feature that was developed at the Sundance Feature Film Labs called WATER & POWER, which received a limited theatrical release as well as digital distribution on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, iTunes, Google play, and Vudo. Currently, I'm developing of an action-thriller TV Series, titled THE RECOVERY AGENTS. The pilot screenplay is among the highest-ranked screenplays on CoverFly and has received recommend coverage. Finally, I'm in development of a feature biographical action-drama based on a book by Pulitzer nominated author, Robert Coram, titled BOYD: THE FIGHTER PILOT WHO CHANGED THE ART OF WAR. Here is the book I'm currently developing into a feature. I'm titling it FIGHTER MAFIA: An action-drama that tells the true story of Colonel John Boyd, a maverick fighter pilot who forms an obscure and subversive team of brilliant acolytes that takes on the powerful military-industrial complex to form a movement that reshapes the art of war.
The adaptation will follow John Boyd’s complex personal and professional life, from his days as the top fighter pilot and instructor at the prestigious Air Force Fighter Weapons School, where he developed his theories in Energy Maneuverability, to his subsequent hands-on impact and leadership (and considered the father) in the development of some of our greatest combat aircraft (such as the F-16, F-15, A-10, and F-18) up until shortly after the delivery of some of his most important theoretical works, which includes Patterns of Conflict, Destruction and Creation, the OODA Loop, and his work with the Marines Corps in the development of their Maneuver Warfare doctrine, and as the principal founder of the Military Reform Movement. The story will culminate with Colonel Boyd as the prime architect of the lightning-speed winning strategy in the Gulf War’s Operation Desert Storm, where he worked closely with then-Secretary of Defense Dick Chaney as he fought against the generals in order to implement his maneuver warfare strategy. For all his professional accolades, Fighter Mafia will juxtapose Colonel Boyd’s amazing career against the tragedy and “mismanagement” of his personal life as husband and father to his wife, Marry, and his five children as the self-described “Ghetto Colonel”.
Fighter Mafia will be written as an entertaining but informative story (part humor – part drama – part action) that will paint a very human portrait of a larger than life (but deeply flawed) character who eventually leaves a legacy that still influences the world of business, sports, legal, and military strategy.
